What is Kundalini Yoga?

28 December 2025

Kundalini Yoga is a science, a technology, and a deeply spiritual practice.

Science: Kundalini Yoga is the most academically studied form of yoga, and for good reason. It has known effects on emotional regulation, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and many other issues.

Technology: It is a technology that uses ancient practices to move energy in the body in ways that improve mental, physical, and spiritual health.

Spiritual: Kundalini Yoga is a deeply spiritual (not religious) practice using breath, mantra, meditation, and posture to move energy from the base of our spine to our crown. It connects us not only with our true self, but also with the part of us that is also tethered to the Universal Consciousness, or the Divine.

Kundalini Yoga hails from the Raj (royal/wisdom) lineage and the Bhakti (devotional) lineage. It was formed for everyday people, not monks and mystics. In other words, it is meant for people with everyday lives of work, tending to the house, children, and pets. You get the picture. So it is not an elite yoga designed to prepare a monk or nun for meditation.

The practice of Kundalini Yoga is here to bring that latent energy that sits at the base of your spine, also known as Shakti energy, up through your body to become available for being, doing, creating, and living into who you were meant to be. The practice balances the glandular system, strengthens the nervous system, and enables us to harness clarity of mind and emotional regulation. So we become in control of ourselves rather than reacting to life from a chaotic array of emotions, we choose to act based on our wise mind.
